COVID-19 Testing

First Care Medical offers two types of COVID-19 testing, including the BO Veritor Rapid Detection of SARS-CoV-2. This test is a Point of Care (POC) test that can deliver results within 15 minutes. We also provide PCR testing that will have results known generally in 1-3 days.

The BD Veritor Rapid Detection of SARS-CoV-2 is an antigen test. This test has been authorized under the FDA's Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Antigen tests are designed to detect proteins(antigens) from the virus that cause COVID-19. These proteins can be found in respiratory specimens obtained
from nasal swabs. This test is to be performed only using respiratory specimens collected from individuals who are suspected of COVID-19 within the first five days of the onset of symptoms.

Positive & Negative Rapid COV/0-19 Testing Results

A positive test result indicates that antigens from SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
were detected in the nasal specimen. This is a very specific test and would
indicate that the patient is infected with the virus and presumed to be
contagious. A negative test result for this test means that antigens from SARSCoV-2 were not present in the specimen above the limit of detection.

However, a negative test result does not totally rule out COVID-19. If your healthcare provider feels it is appropriate, confirmatory PCR molecular testing may need to performed as well. The PCR test is the most sensitive test for COVID-19; however, it may take 1-3 days to get your results. For more information, please contact First Care at 308-236-7016.

This test will be billed to your insurance. Because this test has been
authorized under the FDA's Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), if you are concerned about insurance and billing, you need to call your insurance company to determine their coverage policy. We do not have access to your insurance plan benefits.
